PPT is involved in a range of mutually supporting developmental programmes and wherever possible pursues a holistic and integrated approach. Each programme addresses a specific developmental need and opportunity which is regarded as important in bringing about transformation and change in South Africa. Each programme is made up of a number of constituent projects, initiatives or sub-programmes.
Due to the extensive number of projects in which PPT is involved, it is not possible to provide detailed information on all of them. A short summary of each programme is provided. For more information, please click here for PPT’s detailed Project List or refer to various case studies provided under the Resource Information section of this website.

Developmental Approach:
PPT’s developmental approach is pro-poor, participative, sustainable and systematic. Care is taken to build on local resources, assets and initiative where-ever possible (i.e. a demand-led as opposed to supply-led approach). PPT also promotes integrated, area-based development through focusing where possible on a range of mutually supporting developmental responses within one locality. PPT recognizes that strengthening human capital is central to more sustainable development and reducing dependency.
Scale:
PPT’s works at scale. To date, PPT has successfully prepared 143 projects for 65,415 disadvantaged beneficiaries resulting in capital funding leverage of over R1.24 Billion. PPT is currently preparing 118 developmental projects for over 190,042 disadvantaged beneficiaries with a potential capital value of R1.60 Billion. Programme Development and Fundraising:
Securing sufficient funding for our developmental programmes is an ongoing challenge for PPT and represents the major constraint on our ability to enhance and up-scale the work we do, thereby increasing the number of beneficiaries we are able to reach. PPT develops new programmes and raises funding for them on a systematic and planned basis. Click here for more about on PPT’s Current Fundraising Priorities.
